Sculpture

Conserving nature has long been one of Rein’s causes — powerfully reflected in his “Praying Mantis,” “Butterfly,” “Dragonfly” and “Whale” sculptures.

"Chaotic Flyers"

Picture 7 of 28

Work Date: 2005. Medium: Bronze, Stainless Steel. Dimensions: 7' x 7' x 2' — acrylic case dimensions. Collection: The Franklin Institute, Philadelphia, PA. Three pendulums are connected at a central hub. When the central hub is turned the entire system is in motion. At the end of each pendulum is a Flyer acrobatic figure. The motion is completely unpredictable and impossible to duplicate — a chaotic trapeze act. Photo by Cie Stroud
